What Are Your Dreams Trying to Tell You?

Dreams play an important role in our spiritual and personal evolution. Each dream holds special problem-solving powers and can provide answers to many issues we face throughout our lives.

If you find yourself fascinated with the power of dreams, dream interpretation, and general dream work, or check the meanings of your dreams with an online dream dictionary frequently, then you have probably also wondered whether it is possible to induce the content of your own dreams.

Dream Induction

Being able to induce your own dreams is not as much about choosing the specific content of your dreams as it is about assisting you in recalling them so clearly that you can actually harness their powers and use them constructively in your life.

This occurs through accurate dream interpretation. Achieving this is easier than you might imagine. The key lies in establishing the practice of examining and understanding all aspects of your dreams.

Dream induction differs from lucid dreaming, which is the process of having an awareness of your dreams while they are taking place. Some people claim they do not dream, or that they have difficulties recalling their dreams once they awaken. However, in reality, everyone dreams - the brain is hardwired to do so. Your brain knows how to do it intuitively. You simply need to know how to tap into this ability.

How Do I Induce My Dreams?

Doing an effective job of inducing your dreams involves a certain degree of mindfulness. True dream interpretation occurs when you are most in touch with yourself and with your emotions. Slowing down a bit, and making a concerted effort to notice your dreams is a good place to begin.

  • Place a notepad by your bed to inform your brain you are taking the process seriously

  • Establish a bedtime routine that repeats itself each night

  • Make a conscious effort to tell yourself aloud, or by writing it in your dream journal, that you intend to dream after you fall asleep

  • Include your intention of what you want to dream about, if you wish

  • Then, set your alarm clock for 3:00 AM, or about 2 hours prior to your normal waking time

As soon as you hear your alarm, immediately grab your notepad and write whatever comes to mind. This powerful moment is an interruption of the REM stage of your sleep cycle. Jot down descriptions of any words, colors, shapes, and anything else that you can recall. Then, return to bed. Repeat this practice for several nights.

In as soon as two weeks, you will begin to notice that your dream recall will vastly improve. Once you have established the practice for a few weeks, you may notice that you are much more aware of your dreams in general. You can still use the online dream dictionary to uncover their latent meanings or to create additional dreams. All you have to do is practice consistently.

When embarking on your journey to induce dreams, it is important to be both patient and authentic. Continue to practice every night and the results will happen sooner than you might imagine.

Dreaming is a scientifically proven occurrence that happens during a stretch of magical time to each one of us, every single day. One’s sex, culture, country, state of health, wealth, age or personal belief systems do not change this. You don’t even have to believe in dreams for them to happen.

What Are My Dreams Trying to Tell Me?

Every dream contains messages. They present themselves in different forms, such as the simple codes from our everyday existences, to more profound, albeit confusing messages that are of utmost importance, and that can help us in our everyday lives.

You might recall waking with the feeling that you needed to recall something specific but were unable to. No doubt your dreams were trying to convey an important message!

Understanding the dream’s signals is the ideal way to interpret the meaning of that message. When attempting to determine which symbols are the most meaningful, one should tap into his or her emotional resources and examine how the symbol makes them feel.

  • Was the reaction strong?

  • Was it fleeting?

  • Did it stick with you longer than other symbols?

These are all important questions to ask yourself.

While your life will not be destroyed by a failure to recall the content of dreams, it can certainly be enriched by remembering them. The emotional response that arises when you consider a dream is the strongest intuitive way to determine whether a particular symbol has a specific meaning.

For instance, if you have vivid recollections of emotions such as fear, happiness, anger, abandonment or any other aspect of the emotional spectrum, this is the place to start seeking the true meaning of the dream and its symbols. Search out the aspects of the dream that stick with you.

Use your notebook religiously and jot down everything you can about your dreams. Then you are free to let them go and recall them at will. If you want a dream to return, it will. If you don’t, it will stay away. You are in control.

If you have an experience you can think of right now that causes all of this to make sense to you, I want to know about it.
